Saudi couple holds first-ever underwater wedding in Red Sea

The Express Tribune reports that in a unique celebration beneath the waves, Saudi couple Hassan Abu Ola and Yasmine Daftardar tied the knot in an extraordinary underwater ceremony in the Red Sea, near Jeddah.

The couple, both experienced divers, exchanged vows surrounded by vibrant coral reefs and diverse marine life in one of the region’s most scenic diving spots.

The wedding was organized by Saudi Divers, a local diving group led by Captain Faisal Flemban, who not only provided the couple with diving gear but also surprised them with an underwater celebration.

The ceremony was attended by a small group of fellow divers, adding an intimate yet adventurous element to the occasion.

Hassan Abu Ola described the experience as unforgettable. “After we geared up, Captain Faisal and the team told us they had planned to celebrate our wedding right there under the sea. It was a beautiful and unforgettable experience,” Abu Ola told Gulf News.

Yasmine Daftardar, wearing a white gown paired with diving gear, and Abu Ola in a tuxedo, completed their vows in a setting that reflected their love for the ocean. The entire event was meticulously planned, and the couple faced no challenges during the ceremony, according to Abu Ola.

“Alhamdulillah, there were no challenges. The celebration went smoothly, and everyone was amazed by how unconventional and spectacular it was,” he added.

Hassan hopes that their wedding will inspire others to explore Saudi Arabia's underwater beauty. He also connected the ceremony to the broader vision of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

"This is just one way we can contribute to realizing the vision of Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Prince of Youth and the visionary leader of our great country," Abu Ola said, inviting people worldwide to experience diving in the Red Sea.
