The website of the Federal Civil Service Commission of Nigeria (FCSC) and its recruitment portal are down.

The development comes hours after the commission announced the commencement of massive recruitment into 70 vacant positions for 2025 into some Ministries, Departments, and Agencies, MDAs.

The Witness learnt that the crash may likely be due to a surge in traffic following the job announcements and forwarding of 16, 000 applications by interested Nigerians.

A visit to the website, www.fedcivilservice.gov.ng, and its dedicated recruitment portal – https://recruitment.fedcivilservice.gov.ng as at the time of filling this report resulted in the following – ‘”Bandwidth Limit Exceeded” and “504 Gateway Time-out”.

According to ChemiCloud, “Bandwidth limit exceeded” means that the maximum amount of data that can be transferred over a network within a certain time period has been reached. This can happen when a website experiences a sudden increase in traffic.”

A newspaper advertorial on Monday signed by the Director, Recruitment and Appointment, Ogaba Ede, on behalf of the commission listed 70 positions for vacancies.

Among the listed vacant positions are: Administrative Officer, Planning Officer, Programme Analyst, Procurement Officer, Senior Computer Engineer, Dentist/Dental Officer, Population Programme Officer, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Education Officers, Senior Youth Development Officer.

A statement by the FCSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Taiwo Hassan, said that interested and eligible Nigerians can apply for the available positions through the commission’s official recruitment portal.
