Image
By Ben AHANONU                      Gov. Uzodimma  Dear Fabian Ihekweme, Now that your chickens have come home to roost, your sponsors and supporters will understand your farrago of missteps and unwarranted stream of invective against the Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma. In case you don't know, you committed cyber bullying, open harassment, social media defamation, character assassination, libel and more against the Governor and government of Imo State. You have been so vocal and consistent in your self-imposed mission to take on the Governor and government of Imo State with wild speculations, spurious claims, name calling and more. You have called the Governor names like "Diaspora Governor," "Anti Christ," "King Ahab," "Con man," "fraudster, "Governor in absentia," "guy man" and more but Governor Uzodimma, in his distinguished disposition as a true leader, remains calm and composed. Russia condemns "irresponsible" talk of nuclear weapons for Ukraine

Air Force/Staff Sgt. Roidan Carlson/Handout via REUTERS Discussion in the West about arming Ukraine with nuclear weapons is "absolutely irresponsible", Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday, in response to a report in the New York Times citing unidentified officials who suggested such a possibility. The New York Times reported last week that some unidentified Western officials had suggested U.S. President Joe Biden could give Ukraine nuclear weapons before he leaves office. "Several officials even suggested that Mr. Biden could return nuclear weapons to Ukraine that were taken from it after the fall of the Soviet Union. That would be an instant and enormous deterrent. But such a step would be complicated an...

Israeli security cabinet approves Lebanon ceasefire deal, official says, after 11th-hour strikes on central Beirut

By CNN   Smoke billows above Beirut's southern suburbs after an Israeli airstrike on Tuesday.  ( Fadel Itani/AFP/Getty Images) CNN —  The Israeli security cabinet on Tuesday voted to approve a ceasefire deal in Lebanon, an Israeli official told CNN, potentially bringing an end to more than a year of cross-border skirmishes with Hezbollah and months of a full-scale war that has killed thousands. While the deal has not yet been officially announced, it is believed that the 60-day cessation of hostilities aims to implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701, with the hope that it could form the basis of a lasting truce. Resolution 1701 was adopted to end a 34-day war between Israel and Lebanon in 2006, and had kept relative calm in the area for nearly two decades. That lasted until the day after Hamas’ October 7 attack on Israel last year, when Hezbollah attacked in solidarity, beginning more than a year of conflict. The resolution stipulated that Israel must withdraw all i...

Signs your partner loves you deeply, according to psychology

Image
By Tina Fey (The Blog Herald) There’s a world of difference between liking someone and truly loving them deeply. It’s these signs, often overlooked, that psychologists say are the most telling. They’re not always obvious, but when you know what to look for, you’ll see them clearly. 1) They’re tuned into your emotions Love isn’t just about butterflies in the stomach or stolen glances. It goes much deeper, especially when you’re talking about a partner who loves you profoundly. Psychologists have noticed that a significant sign of deep love is emotional attunement. In simple terms, it means your partner is in tune with your emotions. They notice when you’re happy, sad, angry, or stressed. They can sense your moods, even when you try to hide them. They don’t just acknowledge your feelings – they empathize with them, sharing in your joy or comforting you in times of distress. It’s not about grand gestures but the subtle ways they show their love. So if you find your partner consistent...

Bianca Ojukwu: Tinubu Likely To Free Nnamdi Kanu

Image
ByTheNigeriaLawyer Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu  Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Speaking during the 13th memorial anniversary of the late Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu in Owerri on Tuesday, Ambassador Ojukwu said she believes President Tinubu understands the importance of Kanu’s release. She argued that freeing Kanu would expose criminal elements who have used his detention as a cover to perpetrate heinous crimes in the Southeast. Delivering her remarks on the theme “Unifying the Igbo Race,” Bianca Ojukwu called for an end to the violence plaguing the Southeast, emphasizing that the Igbo people are not known for harming their own. She stressed the need for collective action to reclaim the region from criminality and insecurity. “The release of Nnamdi Kanu is paramount to se...

Trump pledges immediate tariffs on goods from Mexico, Canada, China

Image
By VOA News President-elect Donald Trump speaks at meeting of the House GOP conference, Nov. 13, 2024, in Washington. U.S. President-elect Donald Trump pledged Monday to quickly impose tariffs on China, Mexico and Canada – the country’s top three trade partners – raising the prospect of trade wars and higher prices for U.S. consumers. Trump used a series of posts on his Truth Social account to announce the moves, including saying on his first day in office he will “sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25 percent tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders.” He said the tariffs would remain in place until “Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!” Trump said Mexico and Canada have the ability to “easily solve this long simmering problem.” He also complained about what he said was China’s role in “the massive amounts of drugs, in particular Fentanyl, being sent into the United ...

Biden to attend Trump inauguration, White House says

Image
By Agence France-Presse President Joe Biden speaks at a "Friendsgiving" event with service members and their families in the Staten Island borough of New York, Nov. 25 2024. U.S. President Joe Biden will attend Donald Trump's inauguration in January, the White House said Monday, calling it a "commitment to our democratic values" despite Trump's skipping Biden's own swearing-in. Then-President Trump refused to attend Biden's inauguration in 2021, after falsely claiming Biden’s election win was fraudulent and whipping up a mob of supporters who stormed the U.S. Capitol. "The president promised that he would attend the inauguration of whoever won the election," deputy press secretary Andrew Bates told reporters flying with Biden on Air Force One. "He and the first lady are going to honor that promise and attend the inauguration." Bates added: "He views that as an important demonstration of commitment to our democratic values and...

Prosecutor drops federal criminal cases against Trump

Image
By the BBC Getty Images The special prosecutor who brought two key criminal cases against Donald Trump has asked judges to drop both of them after his victory in the 2024 presidential election. Special counsel Jack Smith was overseeing cases accusing Trump of trying to overturn the 2020 election results and improperly storing classified documents after he left office. Trump had pleaded not guilty in both cases. In new documents filed on Monday, Mr Smith said the cases should be closed because of a Justice Department policy that bans the prosecution of a sitting president. “It has long been the position of the Department of Justice that the United States Constitution forbids the federal indictment and subsequent criminal prosecution of a sitting President,” Smith wrote in a filing in the election case. “This outcome is not based on the merits or strength of the case against the defendant,” Smith added in the six-page filing. A judge must sign off on both decisions for them to be of...

5 most dangerous breeds of dog in the world

Image
Dogs are called man's best friend but not in all cases because sometimes they can become man's worst enemy. In fact, any dog can bite and attack a human. Even the normally tame Golden Retriever can bite. While the environment of upbringing has the most influence on the behaviour of a dog, it is not wrong to stereotype certain breeds of dogs as being naturally dangerous. As the numbers tell, a large majority of serious dog bites result from dogs that were historically bred for aggressive behaviour. In the year 2016, DogBite.org reported that 31 people died from fatal injuries caused by dog bites, with 42% of these fatalities being children aged 9 years and younger. An immeasurable amount of dog bite incidents also resulted in grievous injury, changing people’s lives forever. Yes, dogs can serve security and other purposes but think twice before you get a dog by checking the merits, demerits and the type of dog especially if you have children under 10 years. Hezbollah rockets land near Tel Aviv after large Israeli strike on Beirut

Image
By Reuters (Reuters) -  Lebanon's Hezbollah movement fired heavy rocket barrages at Israel on Sunday, and the Israeli military said houses had been destroyed or set alight near Tel Aviv, after a powerful Israeli airstrike killed at least 29 people in Beirut the day before. Israel also struck Beirut's Hezbollah-controlled southern suburbs, where intensified bombardment over the last two weeks has coincided with signs of progress in U.S.-led ceasefire talks. Hezbollah, which has previously vowed to respond to attacks on Beirut by targeting Tel Aviv, said it had launched precision missiles at two military sites in Tel Aviv and nearby. Police said there were multiple impact sites in the area of Petah Tikvah, on the eastern side of Tel Aviv, and that several people had minor injuries. The Israel Defense Forces said a direct hit on a neighbourhood had left "houses in flames and ruins". Television footage showed an apartment damaged by rocket fire. Israel's military said...

Nigerian man expresses dismay as women support his wife to marry another man

Image
By Naijaexpress  Anthony Echebiri, an officer with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has voiced his frustration over the reactions of Nigerian women to his marital woes. Echebiri accused his estranged wife, Okechukwu Fortune Adaobi, of abandoning him and their daughter to marry another man, despite still being legally married to him. His claims sparked a heated debate online, with opinions sharply divided. While many sympathized with Echebiri’s situation, a significant number, predominantly women, openly supported his estranged wife. These women applauded her decision to leave what they described as an “unhappy marriage” and praised her for taking bold steps toward personal happiness. The backlash against Echebiri stems from a controversial post he made last year, where he appeared to endorse polygamy, which many believe undermines his current grievances. In a Facebook post on Wednesday, Echebiri expressed dismay over the perceived lack of empathy from Nig...

She challenged this perspective, encouraging men to see women as potential partners in business and success instead. In her post, Rita Dominic emphasized that many women have brilliant ideas that could help men achieve financial growth if they collaborated. However, she pointed out that this potential is often overlooked because men focus on the wrong things. She wrote: "Dear men, stop thinking of condoms when you see women. You can actually do business with these ladies and become very rich. Most of them are wa...

By AFP The Iranian flag outside the IAEA headquarters during the International Atomic Energy Agency's Board of Governors meeting at the agency's headquarters in Vienna, Austria, on November 20, 2024. (Joe Klamar/AFP) WASHINGTON – The United States, Britain, France and Germany express “serious concern” over Iran’s plans to launch a series of new centrifuges for its nuclear program, urging Tehran to reengage with the UN nuclear watchdog. Iran’s announcement came after the four Western powers brought a censure motion targeting the Islamic Republic at the 35-nation board of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The resolution was adopted on Thursday. “We note with serious concern Iran’s announcement… that, instead of responding to the resolution with cooperation, it plans to respond with further expansion of its nuclear program in ways that have no credible peaceful rationale,” the four nations say in a joint statement released by the US State Department. “We expect Iran...

(Opinion)- Is the West using climate agenda to hold back African development?.

Image
By Vsevolod Sviridov PHOTO. ©  AP Photo/Jerome Delay As the continent internationally recognized to be most at risk from climate change, Africa also suffers directly from Western attempts to rescue it. The imposition of an external climate agenda on the continent only preserves the West’s technological superiority and keeps Africa dependent on it. With that in mind, a more recent scramble to establish external control over strategic national infrastructure in Africa, such as the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), carries considerable risks for the continent’s population. Water is the basis of life Water resource management is an important part of any climate agenda that strives to serve the interests of developing countries in Africa. Not only does it mean providing access to drinking water and generating electricity at hydroelectric power plants, but it also refers to creating irrigation infrastructure for agriculture, aquaculture, and forming regulatory and technologi...
