Nnamdi Kanu's family to Tinubu: Release MNK in respect of Iwuanyanwu

 By Bush Radio

The family of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has called on President Bola Tinubu to facilitate his release.

Prince Emmanuel Kanu urged Tinubu to act in honor of the late Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo.

In a statement, Kanu emphasized that the current judicial situation presents an opportunity for political dialogue and a solution regarding MNK’s release, and it is imperative that South-East political leaders take advantage of this moment.

He further requested that the President exercise fairness in Kanu’s case, similar to the treatment given to Sunday Igboho, who was released due to his ethnic ties. Kanu added, “We pray for the peaceful repose of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu’s soul and implore the President and Southeast Governors to honour the late Igbo leader by releasing MNK.”

Nnamdi Kanu has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) on the orders of the Nigerian government. Despite multiple court rulings mandating his release, the government has not complied. Recently, Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja Federal High Court recused herself from Kanu’s case after he expressed a lack of confidence in her.

Aloy Ejimakor, Kanu’s lead counsel, has alleged that the DSS has denied Kanu access to his legal team, raising concerns that his solitary confinement could continue indefinitely.
