Gabriel, Saliba not comparable yet to Arsenal greats - Redknapp

Speaking to the Sun, Redknapp made the claim that it is early to currently compare Gabriel and Saliba to Arsenal greats like Tony Adams and Steve Bould, with the former manager noting that the two defenders are yet to even win the Premier League.

Redknapp said: “Arsenal’s defence looks strong, especially centre-backs William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes. But it’s a bit early to compare them to Tony Adams, Steve Bould and other great Arsenal defenders of the past. They haven’t won a league title.”

With Adams and Bould two of the best defenders to ever play for Arsenal, it makes sense why Redknapp has slammed the breaks on Gabriel and Saliba being praised too highly by fans and pundits, despite their performances in the last two years.

Yet if Gabriel and Saliba lead Arsenal to a Premier League title, it will be hard not to say the two aren’t modern-day legends for the Gunners, along with a handful of other players who Mikel Arteta has transformed into some of the best in the country.

No doubt, Gabriel and Saliba will be influential at Arsenal for years to come

Gabriel and Saliba are arguably the two of the best five defenders currently playing in world football, with the pair having the perfect connection at Arsenal, who this year have been sensational at the back.

And if Arteta is to lead the north London side to tangible success, Gabriel and Saliba will be influential for this mission, with the defenders two of the most important players in Arsenal’s system and the way the north London side play.

Indeed, Gabriel and Saliba are at the top of their game and only getting better with age, and the two defenders will want to do all they can to add silverware to their trophy cabinets with Arsenal playing under Arteta.
