Anti-Graft Commission EFCC Invites Socialite Bobrisky, VeryDarkMan Over N15million Bribery Allegation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has summoned Nigerian socialite and crossdresser, Bobrisky (Idris Okuneye) and social activist, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan over N15million bribery allegation against its personnel. 


Both Okuneye and Otse were invited to the EFCC’s Lagos State office to provide information and assist with the ongoing investigation.


Okuneye, who is an ex-convict, in a video, was purported to have claimed that some unnamed EFCC officers collected the sum of N15,000,000 (Fifteen Million Naira) to drop money laundering charges against the crossdresser.


The video, which has gone viral, was shared by controversial social activist, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.


However, Dele Oyewale, Head, Media & Publicity, EFCC in a statement on Tuesday noted that the EFCC chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has set up a team of investigators to thoroughly examine the bribery allegations.


He stated that Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered an immediate investigation into an alleged N15m bribery claim made by popular social media personality, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.


The statement read, “Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede has ordered immediate investigation of alleged bribery allegations imputed to some officers of the Commission by Idris Okuneye(a.ka.a Bobrisky) in a viral video circulating across the country.


“Okuneye, an ex-convict had alleged in the video powered by Martins Vincent Otse (a.k.a VeryDarkMan) that some unnamed officers of the EFCC collected the sum of N15,000,000 ( Fifteen Million Naira only) from him to drop money laundering charges against him.


“In a swift reaction, the EFCC’s boss has constituted a Team of Investigators to critically look into the allegations. To this end, the Commission hereby invites both Okuneye and Otse to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate to assist investigators unearth the alleged bribery.


"The EFCC reassured the public that the probe would be handled with utmost transparency, and the findings will be made public once concluded.


“The EFCC wishes to assure the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and the result of the findings made public accordingly. The Commission is committed to its core values of integrity, courage, professionalism and collaboration at all times,” the statement added.


Bobrisky was released from prison in August after he served a six-month sentence for mutilating the naira, Nigeria's currency.
